Demo release

Well, there it is! You can't delay it forever, and at some point have to share your game with the public, albeit maybe with only a few people.

After creating a prototype for A Child's Adventure, trying a few different graphic styles and finally deciding to keep the Gameboy "greeny shades " I have worked for a few weeks on a playable demo. Although I don't necessarily feel like it's 100% perfect, I have decided to release it now because I felt that otherwise, I would've kept on making excuses not to release it ("Not right now", "Soon, but it's not ready yet"). While you may encounter a few bugs here and there (don't hesitate to report by the way) I don't think you'll encounter some game-breaking or game-blocking bugs.

The demo features a starting area, a short dungeon and a bossfight. Some elements will be kept in the final game, although maybe changed or improved (namely the dungeon and the boss), but some parts will be kept or considerably changed.

However, the final game will keep the same style and atmosphere. This demo is some sort of a complete showcase of everything I've done so far : the combat system, the player's movements, the sequences, the message / npc system, the save / load system, the camera system... I feel like most of these "foundations" are now ready, and the project is ready to grow and continue.

Making and releasing a demo was also important from a personal viewpoint: I started GameMaker a little less than two years ago, and so far I had only done very small projects, learning projects or prototypes. A Child's Adventure is a personal challenge in the sense that it's my first game built for a larger scope. Remeasing a functional demo, albeit short, was a way of proving myself I could handle bigger projects.

If you play the demo, I truly hope you'll enjoy it !
